The problem: There is on ongoing issue within schools across the country where student behavioral issues outweigh available resources. The limited number of faculty at these schools do not have the financial resources to assist each child.
To address struggling children and families in canton Ohio, resources and facilities can be provided through the careful design of a community support center.
The goal of the design is to bridge the gap between extant programs and unmet needs. The space will provide resources to struggling families. Using ideals of critical regionalism, borrowing materials and a color palette from the surrounding urban context creates an environment that feels familiar to the members of the community. “Home Matters” exists as an accessible resource.
